The Center for Computational Sciences and Engineering develops
and applies algorithms for large-scale scientific computing for partial
differential equations using block-structured adaptive mesh
refinement techniques. I apply these methods to study the interaction
of combustion with turbulent fluid flows and isolated vortical structures.
